midweek thoughts

This Sunday is Vision Sunday here at First Baptist Church.  I am so excited to roll out the theme for 2019.  Wow, I got jitters just typing that.  Time just continues to fly by.  What are you doing with the time that God allows you?  As followers of Christ, we are called Christians.  Χριστιανός in Greek litereally means "belonging to Christ."  Thinking of things that belong to me, I want them to do what I want them to do... Does that sound silly?  If I buy a car, I want it to run, I want it to run fast, and I want it to last me a long time.  I do not, however, want to constantly need repairs.  God knows us.  He knows our frame.  He knows that we are sinners, yet He loves us anyway (Romans 5:8).  He chose to send Jesus to the cross of Calvary to pay for our sin in order to reconcile us to Himself.  We need God.  We need His forgiveness from sin.  We need His direction in order to live a life that He will bless.  Most of all, we need to stay connected to Him.  Read His Word, and talk to Him often through prayer.  This is just a snippet of what we will talk about on Sunday.  I hope to see everyone there!
